Like what you see? How Can We Create A Nuclear Free World? Hiroshima Day 2011These shows (VB #81.11&12) feature information, music and poetry from Portland's 2011 Hiroshima Day commemoration. The event was hosted on August 7 by Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR). Particularly powerful was the answer to the event's title, "How Can We Create a Nuclear Free World?", which was, "Not Another Hiroshima, Nagasaki, or Fukushima." The disastrous melt-down of several of Japan's nuclear reactors added to the urgency of the 2011 event.Once again, PSR held the event at the Japanese American Historical Plaza in Portland's Waterfront Park and co-coordinated with many local peace, social justice, and Japanese American groups. The 2011 event lasted three hours and included a community fair, so these two half-hour shows really condensea lot of information into a relatively short time.
