Hiroshima/Nagasaki 2016: Toward a Nuclear-Free FutureFlying Focus captured video at Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility's 2016 Hiroshima/Nagasaki memorial event held on August 9. Presenters included Unit Souzou taiko (drums), Dr. LeRoy Haynes of the Albina Ministerial Alliance/Allen Temple, Dr. Hideko Tamura Snider-- a hibakusha (survivor of the 1945 blasts), performance artist Chisao Hata and PSR Executive Director Kelly Campbell. The event was hosted by Lynn Longfellow of the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center. Unit Souzou plays one song on part 1 of Flying Focus' 2-part show, and two in part 2. Dr. Haynes gives an invocation, Dr Snider tells tales of her childhood in Hiroshima. On part 2, Toru Watanabe of Unit Souzou explains the song they wrote about Fukushima, Ms. Hata leads the crowd in an interactive poem "Not Alone," and Ms. Campbell gives updates on US nuclear policy and what people can do.
